Create a Basic Tween in Flash
Flash Basics
When going back to college to study I.T you will have to learn Flash and to some, the task is hard. What we want to do is show you a few little basics on how to create a motion tween.
Open up your version of Flash and create a new file. Change your page size to 1024px by 768px and select the text tool.
Change your page size so that your movie will fill your screen when you test it.
Know select the text tool as we are going to type and animate the text.
The next thing to do is make your stage fit in the screen by ‘choosing fits in window’. It shows all the screen instead of using the scroll bars. You should know be set up.
Just type what ever you like, I have chosen a big font so it is easy to see and increased the font size.
On the Timeline on number 1 just highlight it with the mouse by left click once only!!(in flash you have to be very careful not to keep clicking as you are then telling the program different things) until you get the hang of the program my biggest problem was knowing which bit to click on and how many times to click. If you double click you go into the text to create another operation so only click once .
click on number 2 on the timeline, right click the mouse and ‘insert keyframe’. Select the move tool (shortcut V) and move your text down on the stage a little bit.
Do exactly as before and select number 3 on the timeline right click with the mouse and select insert keyframe. The selection tool (V) should still be selected, just move the text box down a bit more.
Do the same again, Select number 4 on the timeline, rightclick select ‘insert Keyframe’, make sure selection tool is still selected and move the text down again.
Keep repeating these steps until you get to the bottom of the screen.
The reason I have got a shadow behind my text is because I have onion skinning turned on, it lets you see the shadow behind so you know where the animation is going, it is just below the timeline.
After creating your animation you can just press the Enter key to play once, or Ctrl Enter to play the movie in a new window.
Another way to Animate
There is an easy way to create a basic animation. Ctrl N creates a new file change your page size to 1024 x 768px, select fit in window, select the Text tool and click number 1 on the Timeline. I have wrote some text as well, increased the size to 150pt and changed my Font to Impact. You can download lots of free fonts from the web a good source is Dafont.com
Move further down the Timeline and select frame 30 rightclick and insert Keyframe (F6 shortcut), make sure you select the Selection tool (V) and move your text box to the bottom of your stage.
The next step is to click on the Layer 1 next to the timeline, and everything will be highlighted, rightclick on the Timeline and select create classic tween. You have just created another Animation. Press enter to test your movie or Ctrl Enter to test in another screen.
Create a Shape Tween
To create a shape tween it is slightly different, We are going to use the paint brush to write on the stage, CTRL N alter the size of your page to 1024px x 768px, select fit in window and select the paint brush tool (B).
The Brush Tool has several options for size of brush, brush shape if you want to paint in the selection or round the back, just have a look and mees about until you have the right size for writing a line of text.
With the brush tool selected click on number 1 on the timeline, go on the stage an write your text.
Once you have written your text move down the time line to frame 30 and click once, right click on the frame and select Insert Blank Keyframe.
Now we need to write some more text in the same place as the first text, (it can be anywhere on the screen), with the brush tool still selected blank keyframe on frame 30 write your text or create a shape with any of the drawing tools (R).
Now click on the timeline in between the Layer 1 and pencil Icon, and all the timeline will become selected.
There is two options available how to create a Tween, go to the Insert menu, or right click on the Timeline and select insert shape tween.
Press enter to test or CTRL enter to play the movie.
