learn flash

On the course you get to learn Adobe flash here you can download a trial version which will expire in 30 days of use, not in 30 days time. It only counts a day when it is opened . If you ask nicely i will get you a serial for the product.

What we are going to do is create a basic animation doing the squash and bounce technique. So first we have to create a new document, I have selected actionscript 3 but for your college you will have to select actionscript 2 if you have cs3/cs4.FlashScreenSnapz001

Select the oval tool and hold down the shift key while dragging with the mouse to create a perfect circle, if you let go of the shift key it will create an oval.ball1

Next we need to convert the ball to a symbol F8 is the keyboard shortcut. Make sure that the ball is still selected, there will be a box round the object.ball2

Name the symbol ball and select graphic as the type.

ball3

With the selection tool (v is the shortcut) move the ball to the highest point on your stage. Move along the timeline to about keyframe 40 and press it then press F6 (new keyframe), create another new keyframe on 18 press F6 and move the ball to just about the bottom of the stage and create another keyframe on 22 .ball4

Select the tranform tool and in the middle of the box there is a little circle drag it to the bottom of the box .ball6

Now go onto frame 19 and press F6 (create new key frame) and in the picture there is a big red arrow it is pointing to onion skinning it shows you where the animation is and where it has been, if you look on the time line you will see brackets and you can move them to see how much onion skinning you want to see. Have a play around. While holding down shift squash the ball down a little and you will see a shadow if onion is turned on, then do the same to the width, move to the next frame and do the same again to both sides holding shift when you do both it keeps it in proportion. On the next frame make another keyframe and put the ball back to it’s original size, you can see with the onion skinning turned on where to put the transform handles. Press the shift key and move the ball up a couple of times by press the up arrow .ball8

If you go to the time line and right click any where (frame 13) and select create classsic tween then move past the centre and right click around frame 30 and create classic tween you should have a bouncing ball. The next step is to ease the ball so it slows down when it comes to the top and speeds up as it falls to the ground. Which will be another day.ball9
